MADISON
&GEORGE
The story behind the day
Madison and George first came to me looking for support to run their wedding day. It soon became clear that what they really needed was something a little more hands-on. Living in the States, raising six brilliant children, juggling two busy careers and a home renovation meant that, by Madison’s own admission, communication could be a little… sparse.
Thankfully, with an incredible team of suppliers already largely in place and a wonderfully supportive venue team, we were able to take the reins and make sure everything came together exactly as it should. There may have been a few missed deadlines, plenty of TBCs and some details confirmed rather closer to the day than planned, but that is precisely where having the right team around you matters.
As wedding professionals, we can execute a beautiful day with limited information, but the magic comes from really knowing the people at the heart of it. Their phenomenal celebrant, Polly, completely understood Madison and George, their family dynamic and their sense of humour, creating a ceremony that couldn’t have suited them more. Heartfelt, completely personal and, naturally, involving a round of shots and champagne.
Their six children were an enormous part of the celebration and an absolute joy to be around. Impromptu speeches had the entire room in tears one minute and laughing the next, and it was impossible not to feel just how close this family is. In true Madison fashion, her vows were written around 15 minutes before the ceremony, yet somehow mirrored George’s almost perfectly. A pretty wonderful testament to the two of them.
And then there was the design. One Splendid Day and Flourish & Grace transformed the spaces beautifully, beginning with a bright, romantic ceremony filled with whites and greens before moving into something altogether darker for the wedding breakfast. Ambient, modern and effortlessly stylish, it was everything Madison never knew she wanted.
The celebrations had actually begun the evening before, with both families coming together for the first time over a stylish but informal welcome dinner. A relaxed wine tasting gave everyone the chance to meet, settle in and enjoy themselves before the main event.
The wedding itself was full of personality, brilliant humour and a few surprises, including the rather spectacular timing of a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. From start to finish, Madison and George had us in stitches and reminded us exactly why the very best weddings aren’t necessarily the ones where everything follows the rulebook.
This is one I’ll never forget.
