The story behind the day

Melissa found me during one of those all too familiar late-night wedding planning rabbit holes, scrolling Instagram in search of the right planner. It wasn’t a perfectly curated image that caught her attention, but the words attention to detail, a love for rosé and mum.

From our very first Zoom call, we realised our worlds weren’t all that different. Two women running busy businesses, navigating motherhood and appreciating life’s little luxuries along the way. It never felt like a client relationship. It felt like catching up with an old friend.

The voice notes became endless, in the very best way. Planning updates, ideas, last-minute thoughts, supplier changes, general excitement.

One thing became apparent almost immediately. Melissa had exceptional vision. Every detail had been carefully considered and brought together with incredible creativity. George’s talents certainly didn’t go unnoticed either, with Melissa putting him to work creating their striking floor-to-ceiling signage, whilst one of her wonderfully talented friends produced the on-the-day stationery, a bespoke merchandise stand and countless personal touches throughout the celebration. I’ve genuinely never experienced a wedding where the bride and her closest friends created so many beautiful elements themselves, all to such an incredibly high standard.

The result was a wedding that felt completely personal, full of personality and unlike anything else.

Then came the hottest day of the year. With temperatures soaring to 37 degrees, our focus quickly shifted to ensuring guests remained comfortable whilst preserving every element of the day Melissa had envisioned. Shade became invaluable, hydration stations were constantly replenished, fans were distributed throughout the venue and, just as importantly, I made sure every member of our supplier team was looked after throughout a demanding sixteen-hour day.

With the venue becoming increasingly warm, we made the decision to move dessert outdoors. Hyde House a beautiful alfresco station that not only gave guests welcome relief from the heat but complemented Melissa’s vision perfectly. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the wonderful team at Hyde House, who embraced every last-minute adjustment with genuine enthusiasm.

From live entertainment throughout the day to the smallest details woven into every corner, the celebration was full of unforgettable moments. But perhaps none more so than their adorable little boy, proudly taking on the role of Best Man. His pre-recorded speech brought all the emotion to match the stunning aesthetics.

Melissa and George created a wedding that was effortlessly stylish, deeply personal and completely centred around the people they love most. exactly what every wedding should be. Yes it was aesthetically beautiful, but done with personality at heart. It was an absolute privilege to be part of the journey and one I’ll remember for a very long time.
