SARAH &
JAMIE

The story behind the day

A wedding in a theme park was never going to be a quiet one.

Set at Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire, Sarah & Jamie’s wedding was quite possibly one of the most logistically involved weddings we’ve ever managed. More than 500 hours of administration and communications, countless moving parts and the final, final, FINAL documents eventually signed off, this was a wedding that required serious planning behind the scenes.

The timeline was quite possibly our busiest ever. A church ceremony, complete with a surprise bridesmaids’ flash mob, followed by a convoy of vintage and classic cars travelling across Pembrokeshire. A portrait session with Sarah & Jamie’s horses, 300 guests, an open bar, live music throughout the day, a funfair. And, just to make things interesting, a funfair that remained open to the public.

It meant managing not only a wedding, but the logistics and health & safety considerations that came with hundreds of guests, alcohol, moving vehicles, fairground rides and members of the public all sharing the same space.

And then there were the surprises - quite literally. A few extras had been secretly arranged by the bride’s dad and, in the spirit of keeping them a surprise, he hadn’t told a soul, yep not even us, the Wedding Planners – we were told on the day. Brilliant for the guests, slightly more interesting when you’re holding a minute-by-minute timeline and suddenly find yourself running 35 minutes behind. And that’s where wedding planning becomes less about following a timeline and much more about knowing how to rewrite one in real time. Because you’re never just dealing with the thing that has happened. You’re working out what it changes next, what can move, what absolutely can’t, and then communicating that new plan to everyone who needs to know and in this case, that was around 20 different suppliers.

All while making sure Sarah, Jamie and their guests knew absolutely nothing about the logistical reshuffle happening around them.

There were plenty of other curveballs too. Last-minute additions, changing logistics, supplier issues and more than a few requests requiring some fairly creative problem-solving. But that’s the bit nobody needs to see.

What they did see was an incredible day. Nearly 300 people having an absolute blast, live music playing, drinks flowing, rides running and a dance floor packed with people who were very much there to party.

Sarah & Jamie threw a wedding that was completely their own. Big, loud, brilliantly unconventional and ridiculously fun.

And somehow, after more than 500 hours of work and one of the most operationally complex wedding days we’ve ever managed, 16 hours later we transported Sarah and Jamie to their hotel, 30 minutes away and we eventually retired to bed – oh and did I mention – at 28 weeks pregnant!

Definitely one for the SLWP history books.

Lovely words

"We honestly couldn’t recommend Sarah Louise planner highly enough! From the very beginning, they were incredibly professional, organised, supportive and attentive to every little detail. Our wedding was on our tourist attraction, so it would have been easy for it to feel like work. Sarah and Dean made sure that this didn’t happen. Which made the day so special for us both.

They took so much of the stress out of planning and made the whole process feel enjoyable and exciting. On the day itself, everything ran so smoothly, and we felt completely reassured knowing everything was in such capable hands. Any hiccups were smoothed over, like our photographer, who was late due to a flat tire. Sarah managed to get cover within less than an hour to make sure everything was covered and we didn’t even know that this was happening.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, and so much of that was down to their hard work, dedication and care. They went above and beyond to make our day everything we had dreamed of, and we are so grateful for everything they did.

Thank you for helping us create such beautiful memories that we will treasure forever. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone planning their special day! "
