When Sophie reached out just four months before the wedding, we met for a coffee to chat through her plans. It quickly became clear that whilst the majority of her suppliers had already been booked, the foundations needed to bring the day together simply weren’t there yet.

As with many weddings I step into part way through, the first challenge is understanding not just what’s been booked, but the couple’s vision. Deciphering months, sometimes years, of decisions and getting into the minds of the couple takes time. Timelines needed creating, suppliers needed leading, logistics needed coordinating and countless details still required decisions. What was immediately obvious though, was Sophie’s incredible eye for colour and design and guest experience being key. Every detail reflected her personality. From pink and yellow scalloped napkins to beautiful pink table lamps she’d spent months sourcing herself, she had created a vibrant, joyful aesthetic that felt completely unique to them.

My role was to take that vision and weave in everything that guests never see, but every successful wedding relies upon. Crockery, cutlery, catering logistics, dietary requirements, supplier schedules, set up timings, floor plans and the hundreds of moving parts that transform beautiful styling into a seamless celebration.

Whilst Sophie brought the creativity, Charlie brought the calm. In those final months he became instrumental in making the practical decisions, always supporting Sophie’s vision whilst ensuring everything came together exactly as they had imagined.

The function band had the dance floor packed from the very first song, whilst Jenna’s spectacular floral designs brought Sophie’s colourful vision to life. 

Then there were their two little boys. Without question, they stole the show. Looking impossibly smart in their tiny suits, they melted everyone’s hearts and had Charlie in tears as they made their way down the aisle.

And, as every great Welsh wedding should, the evening ended with absolute chaos in the very best way. The men abandoned their jackets, then their shirts, climbed onto the function band’s  podiums and belted out Oasis classics at the top of their lungs. It was loud, completely unplanned and the perfect ending to an unforgettable celebration.

For me, the day wasn’t quite over. Needing to call it a night a little earlier than planned, I drove Sophie, Charlie and their boys safely back to their accommodation, making sure they were settled before heading back to the venue myself to oversee the final pack down, carefully organising every piece of décor ready for collection the following morning.

Watching Sophie’s vision finally come to life after four incredibly busy months was such a privilege. Thank you both for trusting me to step in, take the reins and help create a wedding that felt unapologetically colourful, wonderfully personal and completely, unmistakably yours.
